An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the PrintCity Team at Manchester Metropolitan University as a Product Development Specialist in Additive manufacturing as part of our new Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMMIC). Based in PrintCity, our award-winning state of the art Additive Manufacturing facility, this is an exciting opportunity to use your specialist skills to work with industry on technical research and innovation projects.

About the Role:

As a Product Development Specialist, you will:

  • Undertake research in Additive Manufacturing and digital technologies
  • Engage with companies to develop a project scope and brief
  • Work with those companies to deliver on the research and innovation projects
  • Work with other colleagues on the AMMIC project
  • Report project outcomes to AMMIC stakeholders
  • Be skilled in using Additive Manufacturing technologies such as FDM, SLS, SLA, MJF

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships
  • Ability to lead the work of a research team, co-ordinating effort and resources.
  • Proficiency in the application of relevant equipment, software and techniques in the field of Additive Manufacturing, product design/development, CAD fusion 360 and generative design, and software related to running equipment listed in the full job description.
  • Significant research experience in the field of AM and product development
  • A wealth of experience of supporting SMEs in the adoption of additive manufacturing technologies and product development
  • Experience on delivering research funded projects and an understanding of compliance on funded projects
