The University has an annual non-pay spend of over £125 million and Category Managers work within the Procurement Services team across a wide range of projects, including construction, building and equipment maintenance, building compliance, IT hardware and software, facilities management, business services and catering.
About the role:
Our Category Managers play a key role in ensuring that the University achieves value for money on its purchases and contracts in terms of cost, quality and sustainability, as well as ensuring compliance with internal and external procurement regulations.
As a Category Manager you will take responsibility for a specific category, which requires understanding and analysis of category spend patterns, development of a category strategy and tendering of contracts. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver a seamless procurement process that delivers its objectives, ensures full compliance with UK regulations and delivers substantial cost savings and benefits.
Your track record of demonstrating value for money and service improvement should speak for itself. You will be capable of influencing buyer behaviours, in particular the route to market, the procurement process and expected outcomes, complimented by strong analytical and contract management skills and have experience of managing complex projects. Knowledge of the Public
Contract Regulations and eProcurement systems would be an advantage but not essential
Finally, CIPS membership would be an advantage, and you will certainly be familiar with evolving legislation and best practice.
