The role of Department Manager is key to ensuring the Department runs smoothly, helping students to resolve any issues around timetabling and option choices, and liaising with academic colleagues to deliver degree courses effectively.

Experience of working in Higher Education is desirable, but not essential.

  • You will take responsibility for delivering academic support for the Department working closely with the Head of Department, Associate Head of Department and the senior management team, leading, directing and co-ordinating colleagues as required.
  • Taking a key role in programme management, quality assurance and developing programme set up specific to the Department requirements, you will supervise and organise the daily tasks of the Student Experience Tutors and be the Academic point of contact.
  • You will manage the Sessional Workforce for the Department, coordinating recruitment, offers and induction as well as be the department point of contact for sickness absence and cover, supporting the Associate Head of Department on staff workload management.
