Infrastructure Team Leader (EUC) (2635)

Information Systems and Digital Services (ISDS) is central to where we are going as a university and the experience we offer to both our professional colleagues and our students. You will be leading the ‘Infrastructure – End User Compute (EUC)’ team who are primarily responsible for the management and delivery of our large Windows 10 estate, application packaging and deployment, endpoint security and device configuration & management (SCCM, JAMF). The team along with others makes up the Infrastructure & Operations Department, consisting of approximately 40 staff members across multiple specialist areas.

Over the next two years the department is embarking on a process of transformational change. In this area the focus will be streamlining and automating current processes where possible and embracing new technologies where benefits can be realised. We are looking for a strong technical leader to help guide us on that journey.

About the role:
The primary focus of the role is to provide technical team leadership and day to day management to a team of skilled EUC and software deployment professionals. You will play a key role in shaping and driving projects, critical pieces of repeatable work and innovative change within your specialist area.

The role requires you to have significant experience of leading technical teams and projects, a strong background in managing enterprise Windows and / or Mac platforms and great interpersonal skills.

About you:

You should have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work and interact with teams to deliver on agreed deadlines. You will also have a customer service focused approach, along with excellent analytical and problem solving skills. You should also have strong technical knowledge including:

  • Experience of leading technical teams to deliver on a range of tasks, projects and outcomes
  • Broad knowledge and experience of enterprise level IT systems.
  • Expertise in Windows and / or Mac operating systems and enterprise management.
  • Experience of managing SCCM (or similar tools) in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience of supporting critical projects & business processes.
  • A clear understanding and drive to meet security and compliance standards and a ‘secure by default’ ethos.
  • A track record of driving change and innovation in your field of expertise.

Desirable experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of Intune deployment and management (or similar UEM).
  • Experience of managing Office 365 technologies and deploying into platform.
  • Knowledge and experience of JAMF Mac management.
  • Knowledge and experience of app virtulisation & VDI solutions.
  • Technical desktop support background, up to and including 3rd line.
  • Experience of Active Directory, Azure AD and Group Policy management.
  • Experience of deployment and configuration management tools.
  • Experience of deployment and management of endpoint security platforms.
