Lecturer in Accounting and Finance (3218)

The Faculty of Business and Law brings together Manchester Metropolitan University Business School and Manchester Law School in our award-winning building located in the centre of Manchester. We have supported industry and commerce in the city since 1889; today our mission is ‘transforming lives, businesses and communities’.

With over 1,400 students and 40 academic staff Accounting, Finance and Banking is an ambitious, large, and diverse Department within the Faculty of Business and Law. The Department delivers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Professional, and Executive Education programmes through campus-based, online, and blended modes of delivery. Accounting, Finance and Banking is a high performing Department with a team of academics who are passionate about their roles. Our team of award-winning academics have an excellent track record in industry collaboration, professionalism, and innovative teaching and learning resulting in sector leading metrics. 

We are seeking to appoint two academics in Accounting and Finance to join our existing team of academic staff. In particular, we are looking for academics in the areas of taxation, corporate strategy, and sustainability to deliver teaching across our programmes. The academics will contribute to the continued growth and development of our programmes with a strong focus on delivering an excellent and inclusive experience for students.



We are seeking to appoint two strong academic within the Department of Accounting Finance and Banking led by Dr Hannah Holmes. The role requires the successful candidates to contribute to teaching across our provision and to be committed to supporting and developing research, teaching, and pedagogy within the Department.  

We welcome applications aligned to both our Research, Education and Citizenship and Education, Pedagogy, and Citizenship Pathway. We have seeking applicants with particular focus on enhancing teaching practices, inclusive curriculum developments, student employability, and enhancing the student experience. In particular, there will be an expectation of Unit Leadership at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in the areas of taxation, corporate strategy, and sustainability. There will be a requirement to support our executive education and business engagement activity through the development and delivery of industry focused units and courses.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate successful prior experience in research, education and pedagogy with a clear career plan that contributes in these areas.


You will be collaborative, innovative and flexible in your approach to teaching, ensuring an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. You will have a strong commitment to supporting students and working in partnership with colleagues and external partners. You will have a strong track record of leading and developing units and assessments. You will have experience of using your experience to inform curriculum development in the areas of taxation, corporate strategy, and sustainability and be confident to liaise with external stakeholders including industry, professional bodies, and overseas partner institutions.
