Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Fashion Design) (5463)

Manchester Fashion Institute (MFI) has an established reputation within the education sector, we align ourselves with elite fashion schools worldwide. We are looking for a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Fashion Design to join our growing team. As the successful candidate, you will contribute to the students' educational journey, bringing experience, skills and knowledge to inspire the next generation of fashion talent for an ever-changing industry.


About the role:
You will contribute to teaching and student experience across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will be an experienced fashion designer; a practitioner whose teaching practice is informed by either your industry experience working in the luxury sector or your expanding body of published research or practice-based research outputs that focus on innovative sustainable design practice.

You will also be expected to contribute to the research and/or knowledge exchange activities of the department for example by producing high quality research outputs and developing funding bids OR demonstrate an interest in developing expertise and innovation in the delivery of teaching and/or student experience.

About you:
As the successful applicant, you will:

  • Be an experienced designer with extensive experience working within the luxury sector or with designer brands
  • Be a practitioner whose teaching practice is informed by either industry experience/or an  expanding body of published research or practice-based research outputs that focus on innovative sustainable design practice.  This experience will be used to support innovation, programme leadership, and mentorship within the discipline and to support students to be represented globally at high profile competitions
  • Have an in depth understanding of the subject of fashion design
  • Have a commitment to the University's strategic objectives, with a focus on supporting the student experience and providing leadership in key department roles

In recognition of staff contributions to the University's achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff.  This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly installments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
