Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in (Sport Coaching and Elite Performance) (3390)

We are recruiting a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Coaching and Elite Performance to provide research and teaching utilising external elite sports networks and our suite of specialist sports facilities and human movement laboratories located in the Faculty of Science and Engineering in central Manchester, UK.

We are investing strongly in our Institute of Sport; aiming to be a global leader in sports education and research. New research and teaching spaces provide a unique range of sports performance facilities, human movement laboratories and clinical imaging for detailed investigations of athletes, patients and the general public. These facilities sit within the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and serve the wider university as a beacon for research excellence and collaboration.

A major part of our growth is to recruit research-active academics and industry experts to raise the profile and quality of research and education. For this particular position, we are seeking a specialist in coaching, sport performance or a related area to deliver high quality, innovative and collaborative research alongside research-informed, vibrant teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Coaching/Sport/Exercise/Health sciences.

We welcome applications from those with established track records of publishing high quality research, applying for external research funding and translating research for athlete/public/patient benefit alongside delivering quality teaching. It would be an advantage to have existing collaborations with elite sports organisations that may add value to our current education and research agendas.

The successful candidate will access the Platt Lane sports complex and will be supported to develop links with a wide range of sports organisations around Greater Manchester and beyond. Other available spaces include a new Siemens 3T Magnetom Vida with a variety of dedicated coils alongside MR compatible cycle ergometry, dynamometry, neuro stimulation and EEG. We also offer human performance laboratories with extreme environment chamber, eye-tracking, x-ray imaging, EEG, EMG, CPET, VICON, instrumented treadmill and staircase for research aligned to our thematic areas of Sports Medicine and Elite Performance, Healthy Life-course or Movement Impairment (clinical conditions).
