Digital Apprenticeships Programme Manager (4190)

Programme Manager (Digital Degree Apprenticeships)

Background to the role

Universities have a significant role to play in improving the life changes of young people and helping to deliver skills the country needs to prosper. For some, the traditional route of a three-year on-campus degree is not an avenue that is either available or suits their life.

At Manchester Metropolitan University we are extremely proud to be a sector leader in the provision of Degree Apprenticeships, not only as one of the first universities to offer this type of programme, but now with more than 2,500 apprentice starts and over 500 employer partners, including AstraZeneca, Barclays, IBM, BAE Systems, Lloyds Banking Group, Thales, Asda, and McDonald's.

We are proud to be rated an Ofsted Grade 1 ‘Outstanding' provider and voted the highest-rated university provider for degree apprenticeships in the UK for three years running (RateMyApprenticeship Awards 2019, 2020, 2021). In 2020 the overall NSS satisfaction score for apprentices was 93% across all programmes and 100% of employers surveyed said they would recommend Manchester Met degree apprenticeships to other employers.

What are we looking for?

An exciting new role of Programme Manager is now available within our growing team of industry-focussed professionals in the Apprenticeships Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University.  The role will have overall responsibility for supporting the development and delivery of our multiple award-winning Digital Degree Apprenticeship programmes, including:

The position will have end-to-end management of the apprentice journey, from awareness and application stage to graduation and alumni. Relationship management and organisation will therefore be critical, with additional direct line management responsibility for our talented team of Skills Coaches.  The role is dynamic and proactive, not only championing collaboration across the University, but also working closely with commercial employer partners to ensure we continue to deliver high-quality and industry relevant undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

This role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of high standard provision across several degree apprenticeships, including:

Typically, you will:

  • Collaborate with academic Programme Leads and the wider apprenticeships teams to deliver high-quality and high-performance programmes in line with the University's Strategic Plan.
  • Provide effective line management to the team of Skills Coaches working in digital-related areas and monitoring of apprentice progress, to maintain our outstanding OFSTED inspection grade, ensuring ESFA compliance.
  • Work with programme leaders to ensure close alignment between delivery of the academic programme and the development and evidencing of knowledge, skills, and behaviours in the workplace.
  • Plan for high quality delivery of apprenticeships through to End Point Assessment, including required resources.

What are we looking for?

  • The ability to communicate complex issues, develop relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients and act as a representative of the University.
  • Proven track record in developing and managing projects and/or programmes in a Higher or Further Education context, monitoring progress and ensuring delivery to deadlines.
  • Experience of successful management of teams to achieve goals.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to evaluate and interpret complex sets of information, drawing conclusions and recommending practical solutions.

To apply, please submit a CV and Covering Letter to describe how you meet the criteria.
