READER / DEPUTY HEAD OF MANCHESTER SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

The Manchester School of Architecture is ranked 11th in the QS world rankings for Architecture and enjoys the unique context of being a collaboration between Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester. The School is characterised by excellence, ambition, boldness, inquisitiveness, innovation, and social responsibility. These facets generate a unique blend and balance between research led teaching, impressive and relevant research outputs, and extensive professional industry links, all of which encourage our students to cultivate their own unique approach to their design discipline and careers thereafter. Imagination, we take it seriously!

Our current portfolio includes the ARB and RIBA accredited BA and M.Arch programmes, a Landscape Institute accredited Master of Landscape Architecture, and an MA Architecture and Urbanism. We have very ambitious plans to grow this portfolio in the near future with a range of exciting and dynamic programmes which will build on our areas of expertise and values, some of which launch in September 2022.

Joining the Manchester School of Architecture as the Deputy Head of School you will support the Head of School with the strategic vision, academic leadership, and operation of one of the world's leading Schools of Architecture and in particular be able to implement key strategies and initiatives as set out by the School's senior leadership team. . The Deputy Head will be required to liaise with the various regulatory bodies, work closely with the School Leads in the areas of Research, Education, and International, undertake line management duties, and deputise for the Head of School when appropriate.

You will have a research profile with an upward trajectory, and/or an impressive track record within the Education/pedagogy field and will have the ability to contribute to, or lead an Atelier design studio led by your research interests/area of expertise. Alternatively, you wlll be able to make a significant contribution elsewhere within the School's expanding portfolio.

You will have exceptional inter-personal and communication qualities, excellent organisational and administrative skills, and a collaborative approach to working. We will also look to you to ensure an excellent student experience through the use of relevant and inspiring learning and teaching.

Informal discussions can be held with Head of School Professor Kevin Singh via k.singh@mmu.ac.uk
