Research Fellow (Communication Disability) (0299)

As one of the largest provider of nursing and allied health professionals in the region, we offer a diverse range of award-winning and innovative degree courses. Our work is professionally recognised, accredited and respected. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive learning environment that encourages discussion, debate, shared learning and interdisciplinary co-operation. Our innovative, vibrant programmes reflect our research activity, which enriches and informs the student experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a vibrant research team. Speech & Language Therapy at Manchester Metropolitan University has a long history of applied research across several communication disability themes including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities, child language delay and school readiness, dysfluency, stroke & aphasia, under-served communities and Global Health. In particular, we are internationally recognised for our AAC-specific research, learning & teaching and community engagement through NGOs and 3rd sector organisations specialising in supporting AAC-related agendas.

We are the first UK institution to appoint a Professor in Communication Disability & AAC. You will join a committed and enthusiastic team of lecturers and researchers through this newly created, permanent post, a Research Fellow in Communication Disability.

The post requires applicants to hold a PhD and have a particular focus on research related to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in children or adults with developmental, lifespan or acquired communication disability.

For informal enquiries or visits, contact Professor Janice Murray on j.murray@mmu.ac.uk

Please ensure you attach a CV and covering letter with your application.

If you would like to join our people and share our ambition, we would love to hear from you.
