Manchester Metropolitan University have recently been awarded Investment Zone funding to support our Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMMIC).
The AMMIC Investment Zone programme is positioned to develop business-university innovation focused on advanced manufacturing and sustainable materials development. This includes additive manufacturing, surface engineering, metamaterials, and materials for ‘green' energy. AMMIC will provide a one port of call for innovation-ready businesses to access technological expertise and capacity building to embed and exploit the technologies for long-term growth. AMMIC will build expertise and capability that will deliver benefit to the Greater Manchester region.
The post holder will manage the industry-facing, collaborative projects which AMMIC is targeted to deliver and to support the associated activity. AMMIC will achieve this by providing R&D grants to businesses to support these impactful, collaborative R&D projects. Reporting to an Innovation Development Manager, this role requires a B2B professional with experience working within a Higher Education setting, or within a client facing business engagement/development, or similar support role. Knowledge of Advance Manufacturing & Materials, Industry 4.0, Engineering, or Technology are highly desirable.
You will join an established, professional, and collaborative business-facing Innovation Development team, and you will:
- Work in support of the AMMIC academic leads and project team to deliver the R&D aspects of the project.
- Generate R&D project leads and develop good working relationships with partners to secure the collaborative projects and work with the appropriate teams to complete the supporting activity (costing and contracts).
- Work with and support University academics to develop the proposals.
- Integrate fully in the business engagement team, to allow you to build your knowledge of the full range of supported activity – from contract research or collaborative research, to consultancy and PhD programmes – to enable you to identify additional opportunities and sign-post these.
- Build your knowledge of academic capability and expertise across the AMMIC space and work to promote this.
- Take on Innovation Development team level targets/deliverables, as appropriate.
