This is an opportunity to join Manchester Met's dynamic Student Visa team and use your immigration knowledge of student visas to provide training, guidance, advice and support to staff and international students across each stage of the student journey.

We are looking for a proactive individual with strong knowledge of UKVI rules and regulations, and:

  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Evidence of good practical understanding of customer service in a large organisation.
  • Accredited, or equivalent experience, of OISC (Level 2) advice.

About the role:

Within this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a Student Visas support service for staff and students, as well as providing crisis and “at risk” support, and advocating for the needs of international students on cross-University initiatives, projects and working groups.

This will include:

  • Developing and delivering an immigration support service for international students across each stage of the student lifecycle from applicant to Graduate Route.
  • Supporting students effectively by resolving issues with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) on their behalf.
  • As part of a wider International Office team, coordinating and developing activity and contributions to the arrival and welcome of international students to the University.

About the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organised with the ability to manage the competing demands of a diverse workload.
  • Experienced in providing advice and support to international students, including the provision of specialist immigration advice and casework up to Level 2 (as defined by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner).
  • Proficient in IT, including ability to use MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database packages.
