Research and Innovation Contracts Manager (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking to appoint a Contracts Manager to join the Research Development and Delivery Team to manage all aspects of contract negotiation for research and innovation activity across the University. This position is specifically for maternity cover, with a fixed-term duration of 16 months.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have experience in negotiating and drafting contracts, and may be an experienced Paralegal, a Solicitor working at a firm of solicitors, or in-house in a Contracts Manager/Officer role.

You will be able to liaise credibly and articulately with colleagues at all levels including executive and professoriate.  You will have the ability to influence and advise, managing a wide and varied workload to meet precise deadlines.

This is a key role within Research and Innovation at a central level, and the Contracts Manager will have an opportunity to make a significant contribution to supporting strategically important activity within the University, underpinning the implementation of the University's ambitious R&I strategy.

The role:

The Contracts Manager will manage all aspects of contract negotiation for R&I activity across the university. The post-holder will manage the drafting, review and authorisation of R&I contracts and will act as a business partner and primary point of contact to offer legal advice for R&I-active staff.

You will report to the Senior Contracts Manager and work closely with colleagues to ensure all University R&I agreements are compliant with the University's financial and governance regulations.

R&I Directorate:

The Directorate is responsible for the management and delivery of the R&I strategy and supports all aspects of the University's high-quality research portfolio.  The University's research makes an impact on the world around us, and the Directorate supports research funding and the wider research environment such as impact and public engagement activities, business partnerships and collaborations across the sector and beyond.

Working here:

This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team and we offer a fantastic range of benefits to employees, including a central location, which is excellent for commuters, a generous annual leave allowance (35 days, plus Christmas Closure and Bank Holidays), and a very competitive pension scheme.  You will also get access to a wellbeing platform, retail discounts, travel loans (public transport), a cycle to work scheme, plus many more rewards and benefits.
