We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Finance Assistant to join the Finance Service and Support Team on a fixed term contract. The team is a busy multi-service team, providing customer facing support, advice services and cashiering transactional activities. The team handles a high volume of enquires from our students and staff and we are looking for someone with the customer service skills and financial knowledge to support these enquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile University income and expenditure, including accurate posting of all income
  • Ensure security and control of all cashiering functions, investigating errors, reporting and resolution of discrepancies
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to staff and students
  • Provide a high level of customer service when dealing with staff and students
  • Reconcile a range of financial data from multiple systems
  • Provide ongoing training, guidance and support to colleagues across the University in relation to a wide range of financial matters

Key Requirements:

  • Have experience of working within a customer service role dealing with customer enquiries
  • Have experience of working in a busy financial environment processing large transaction volumes
  • Be good at problem solving, thorough and precise with your approach to work
  • Be professional and proactive with the ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word) and SAP or similar finance systems

This is a great opportunity to join a friendly team, focused on delivering an improved service to all our customers and under-pinned by a Customer Service Excellence Accreditation award. We also provide development and upskilling opportunities within the team.

If you would like to join our people and share our ambition, we would love to hear from you!

Due to this being a short fixed-term role, we are ideally seeking an immediate start. Please submit your CV and Covering Letter via our application portal and for informal enquiries, please get in touch with Tim Cross, Finance Service and Support Team Leader, at t.cross@mmu.ac.uk.

We offer hybrid working with 2-3 days per week on campus and the remaining are working from home, though we do ask for flexibility at busy times and to cover periods of leave.

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we sometimes close our vacancies early. It is therefore advisable to apply as early as possible if you would like to be considered for a role.

Please note that the University is closed from 21 December 2024 and will reopen on 02 January 2025. Any recruitment queries received will be responded to after this date.
