The Opportunity
As a Tutor in Organic / Materials Chemistry, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering a variety of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You'll also have the opportunity to drive education innovation within these programmes. Promoting the department, faculty and university by supporting a range of activities will be important too.
About you
To succeed, we are looking for:
- A good first degree and PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Ideally two years' university teaching experience, preferably gained in a UK context, although you'll be supported to gain a teaching qualification if you do not have one.
- Membership of any relevant professional bodies is also desirable.
- Experience of living and working in China is desirable.
- An in-depth understanding of the subject, including recent developments in materials, nanotechnology, materials properties and characterisation techniques is essential for this role.
- A commitment to ensuring teaching content is stimulating, inspiring, appropriately challenging and reflective of the current state of the discipline and / or professional subject bodies, you're also adept at using initiative, creativity and judgement when undertaking scholarly activities.

Commencing as soon as possible, this is a two-year fixed-term post based in Manchester with two overseas assignments per year working at Hubei University, China. There will be two six-week teaching blocks to be delivered at Hubei University, China in each academic year.
The successful candidate will receive an attractive reward and support package, including free on-campus accommodation during your time at Hubei University, paid return flights to the UK for the two periods based in China, tax equalisation on pay, and health insurance whilst on assignment.
Appointment will be subject to necessary UK and China visa and work permit requirements. Support will be provided by the University in applying for visas and work permits.
