Manchester Metropolitan University is looking for a Management Accountant to join the Business Planning and Reporting team within Finance and Procurement. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied role, working with the wider business to deliver quality financial information linked to project activity. Joining at a time of change, with the implementation of our new finance system, Oracle, the holder of this newly created role will work closely with the Head of Finance – Projects. They will help shape processes and uncover opportunities delivered by the system.
In this role you will:
- Work as part of a team to deliver robust financial information around project activity, most notably Research and Innovation grants.
- Develop a deep understanding of Oracle, our financial system and contribute to the continuous improvement of project accounting processes, systems, and controls, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
- Be involved in both management and financial accounting, with the role covering both budgeting and forecasting for research, and determining the revenue recognition requirements for grants.
- Build relationships with stakeholders across the business and support with coaching and mentorship of junior team members to help deliver an effective service, and support progression within the directorate.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have proven technical and management accounting ability
- Have strong communication skills, flexing them to both influence the behaviour of senior stakeholders but also encourage and train future accountants.
- Have experience with project accounting in a large, complex environment.
- Proactively seek to work both independently and collaboratively to solve problems and improve standards across the team.
