The Research and Innovation (R&I)) Directorate at Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking to appoint a Research Development Officer to join the Research Development Team on a permanent basis. 

The Role

The Research Development Officer will work closely with a range of academic and professional service colleagues across the R&I Directorate, Faculties and University to provide coordination and advice for the development, preparation, costing and submission of high-quality research proposals.

The post-holder will act as the main point of contact for queries relating to a portfolio of specific external funders and will support the co-ordination of internal R&I funding schemes. They will contribute to the planning, support and implementation of Research Development related communications activity including publicising key opportunities and initiatives. 

The role also involves supporting the promotion of research development support including the planning and delivery of relevant events and training.

This is a predominantly hybrid working post.

Ideal Candidate

This role would suit a pro-active candidate with good organisational, numeracy and analytical skills and experience in research administration.  They will be able to build and maintain effective relationships and able to demonstrate an understanding of the UK funding landscape and knowledge of research funding bodies to provide advice to academic colleagues on funding opportunities and application requirements.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of funders requirements and provide advice and support to academic colleagues regarding internal processes and requirements relating to R&I activity, liaising with Departments/Departmental Research Leads and Faculty teams as required.
