We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Technical Officer to join our Health & Education Resource Centre Team within Technical Services.

About our Team:

Technical Services provides specialist support for learning, teaching, research and enterprise activities across the University. The Health & Education Resource Centre Team delivers expert technical support within simulation, clinical skills and physiotherapy environments, enabling students to develop professional skills through practical and immersive learning experiences.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of simulation-based education, clinical skills teaching and physiotherapy practice across Manchester Met. Working as part of a skilled technical team, you will help prepare specialist teaching environments, maintain equipment, support students and staff during practical activities, and contribute to an outstanding learning experience.

The role combines hands-on technical support with customer service, organisation and problem-solving. You'll work with a range of specialist simulation and physiotherapy equipment, helping to ensure our facilities operate safely, efficiently and effectively.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the delivery of simulation-based education, clinical skills and physiotherapy teaching activities.
• Preparing specialist facilities, equipment and resources for practical sessions.
• Providing technical support, demonstrations and guidance to students and staff.
• Maintaining specialist equipment and ensuring safe, effective working environments.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality technical support service.

This is a fixed-term opportunity, for approx. 12 Months

About You:

We are looking for an organised and adaptable individual who enjoys working in a practical, customer-focused environment.

You will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience of working in a laboratory, workshop, simulation or similar technical environment.
• Experience using specialist simulation-based education equipment and technologies, including high-fidelity manikins and Anatomage Tables.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within clinical, practical or technical environments.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain and demonstrate equipment use to others.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and collaborative platforms.

Further Information

This role is campus-based and requires flexibility to work across University sites where required. The post holder will normally work between 08:00 and 18:00, with occasional evening or weekend working to support operational requirements.
