Manchester Metropolitan University's Law School is recruiting and is offering outstanding opportunities for scholars committed to making a difference for our students and wider society through excellent education that transforms lives and high-quality, impactful research.

We are based within a fantastic global city and are a warm, supportive and inclusive Law School community. We were delighted to be awarded ‘Law School of the Year' in the Educate North Awards 2025 and to be part of the Times/Sunday Times ‘Modern University of the Year' 2026. We were also awarded the Athena Swan Bronze Award in 2025, recognising our commitment to equality and inclusion.

As part of the University's continued investment in the growth of our successful Law School, we are seeking to appoint colleagues to our education and pedagogy/practice pathway at Lecturer level.

We have a number of priority teaching areas, particularly in Company & Commercial Law, Employment Law, and Criminal Law. We are keen to hear from applicants who are enthusiastic about teaching in these areas and contributing to their ongoing development within the School. We particularly welcome candidates with a practice background, especially those with experience or interest in learning and development, who are keen to contribute to our professional programmes, including those supporting qualification via the SQE.

Successful candidates will be expected to deliver high-quality learning and teaching across core undergraduate modules, with opportunities to contribute to elective teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

We also welcome applicants with interests or experience in areas such as digital legal education, pro bono, and sustainability, to build on the School's strengths and leadership in these areas.

This role would suit individuals who can bring legal practice into the classroom to enhance our contextual approach to legal education, and/or those with experience of teaching in higher education or a strong interest in developing in this area.

An awareness of current developments in legal education and the wider sector, including approaches to addressing differential outcomes and awarding gaps, would be advantageous.

This pathway offers the opportunity to work alongside internationally recognised scholars in legal pedagogy, as well as colleagues with outstanding legal practice expertise, within a supportive environment that encourages development.

To apply, please submit your CV and covering letter via our application portal. For informal enquiries, please contact Andrew Francis (Dean of Manchester Law School) at Andrew.Francis@mmu.ac.uk.
