The Department of Computing and Mathematics is a thriving academic community of over 80 staff and 2,500 students. We have ambitious growth plans and a strong reputation for innovative teaching, particularly in Degree Apprenticeships, where we deliver the award-winning Digital and Technology Solutions programme in partnership with leading employers.
We are now seeking experienced and innovative educators to join our department. Applicants should have a demonstrable track record of impactful teaching practice, evidenced through measures such as student satisfaction, student achievement, or graduate employability. The University is investing significantly in the Department, with several Lecturer and Senior Lecturer appointments planned over the next year. This role sits within the Education, Pedagogy/Practice, and Citizenship (EPC) pathway, offering a clearly defined progression route to Professorship.
Role
You will design and deliver high-quality learning experiences across Levels 3–7, engaging and inspiring students to reach their full potential. You will play an active role in enhancing the student experience, embedding innovative teaching practices and insights from industry and global education trends. You will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Games, including:
- BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development
- MSc (Hons) Computer Games Development
You will also collaborate closely with colleagues in the School of Digital Arts (SODA), which delivers BSc (Hons) Games Design and BA (Hons) Games Art.
Ideal Candidate
- A dedicated, student-focused educator with a strong record of high-quality teaching, gained in higher education, further education, or professional practice.
- A subject expert in Game Development, with knowledge built through academic pathways or substantial industry experience.
- Confident teaching across the full range of levels, from foundation to postgraduate.
- A collegiate team member who values collaboration, co-creation, and contributing to a vibrant academic community.
- Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline, or possess significant professional experience in the games industry.
