Lecturer in Digital Advertising

Pathway: Education, Practice and Citizenship (EPC)

Do you have a strong commitment to teaching and student development, underpinned by expertise in digital marketing and advertising?
Are you motivated by delivering practice‑relevant, future‑focused education within a student‑centred and inclusive university?
If so, this opportunity could be for you.

With more than 11,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, the Faculty of Business and Law at Manchester Metropolitan University is a popular choice for students from the UK and internationally. The Faculty comprises a triple‑accredited Business School—holding EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA accreditation—and the renowned Manchester Law School. Together, they deliver professionally informed education supported by strong employer engagement and impactful research.

The Department of Marketing, International Business and Tourism is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Digital Advertising on the Education, Practice and Citizenship (EPC) pathway. This role has a clear focus on high‑quality pedagogy, curriculum delivery and student engagement, and is suited to candidates whose primary strength lies in education informed by contemporary professional practice or scholarship.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with strong expertise in digital marketing, combined with either an academic or industry background in advertising or marketing communications. Relevant experience may include: creative and agency‑based advertising roles, translated into academic skillsets such as:

  • creative concept development,
  • campaign design and evaluation,
  • copy and visual communication strategy,
  • digital brand and media planning, and
  • client‑focused pitching and briefing processes.

This may be evidenced through the ability to teach advertising creativity, storytelling, brand narrative, campaign planning and critique within digital and integrated marketing contexts.

Experience of professional roles within creative or digital agencies—supported by the capacity to develop engaging, inclusive and practice‑relevant learning—will be particularly valuable. The successful candidate will also demonstrate awareness of collaborative working practices and the development of early‑career talent, supporting students' employability and professional identity formation.

The postholder will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, work collaboratively within subject teams, engage with curriculum enhancement and quality processes, and support students through teaching, assessment and personal tutoring. Applicants may hold a PhD or demonstrate equivalent professional experience; all appointed staff will be supported to achieve Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter of up to 2 pages, highlighting experience, achievements, and relevant skills via our application portal.
For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Riccardo De Vita, Head of the Department of Marketing, International Business and Tourism (r.de.vita@mmu.ac.uk), or Dr Costas Theodoridis, Deputy Head of Department (c.theodoridis@mmu.ac.uk).
