The School of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in education disciplines, including initial teacher education programmes in Primary undergraduate and postgraduate courses and a range of postgraduate Secondary subjects, including Spanish.

We are seeking to recruit a fixed-term part-time lecturer in MFL teacher education with particular experience in Secondary Spanish.
About the Role
- In this role you will plan and deliver engaging teaching seminars and lectures, undertake interviews with prospective students in Spanish and visit the student teachers in schools.
- You will have the opportunity to teach across the Primary and Secondary teacher education programmes and may be given the opportunity to teach across other programmes within the education portfolio.
- You will be given the opportunity to lead taught modules in areas of Primary or Secondary teacher education.
- You will support student teachers and school-based mentors via placement visits and professional development under the new requirements for Initial Teacher Education.
- You will act as a personal tutor to identified groups of students, providing academic and pastoral support throughout the academic year.
- You will engage in recruitment activity including interviewing prospective candidates and contributing to recruitment events, open days and twilight recruitment meetings.
- You may also have the opportunity to lead thematic areas linked to the ITE statutory guidance and the new Ofsted framework.
About You
- You will have expertise in primary or secondary education with a particular focus on Spanish.
- You will have experience of supporting student teachers or early career teachers in an education setting demonstrating an understanding of the challenges and priorities within the sector.
- You will understand the requirements and regulatory frameworks associated Initial Teacher Education including the quality requirements for initial teacher training that were introduced in 2024.
- You will hold a good first degree together with a PhD in a relevant discipline (imminent completion may be acceptable) or equivalent sector experience or qualifications, alongside Qualified Teacher Status.
