Position: RF Electronic Design Engineer
Based at: SmOp Cleantech, Manchester
Salary: Up to £33,000 pro rata depending on experience
The role:
An exciting opportunity has become available to work full time on a 5-month contract to complete a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) developing an Adaptive Multiband Metamaterial Antenna Frontend for Ultra-low Power 5G/Wi-Fi 6/6E/7/HaLow Applications.
Employed and supported by an academic team from the University, you will work both from home and at SmOp Cleantech's premises in Manchester.

Qualification we require:
Hold a minimum 2:1 BEng in Electronic Engineering, Radio Frequency Engineering or a related degree. BSc (Hons) / B.Tech. candidates would also be considered, though BEng (Hons) is preferred.
Prior industry experience and/or or a higher qualification (e.g., MSc, PhD) would be beneficial.
Application requirements:
- Knowledge of fundamental components of electronic circuit systems: impedance matching, rectifying circuits, signal processing etc.
- Knowledge of standard mathematical techniques for electronic engineering, signal analysis, signal propagation, signal modulation etc.
- Knowledge of RF data communication protocols (NFC/RFID, WLAN, WNAN, WWAN), Multi-radio standards / protocols; and multi-radio networks convergence characterisation.
- Experience of RF subsystems design, modelling, simulation, fabrication, integration and characterisation.
- Knowledge of RF technologies and architectures, such as multi-radio 5G/Wi-Fi6/6E/7/HaLow and antenna design topologies (e.g., multiple input multiple output); and beamforming optimisation algorithms.
- Knowledge of energy harvesting systems (Energy types; harvesting methods; energy sources; energy collecting distances; harvesting performance; power conversion efficiency; and application).
- Knowledge of computer programming languages such as C/C++/Python and Java for embedded systems integration and interfacing.
