We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Finance Assistant to join our Finance Service and Support Team at Manchester Metropolitan University.

This is a busy, customer-focused team at the heart of the University, providing support, advice and transactional services to both staff and students. You'll play a key role in helping us deliver a responsive, high-quality finance service while working with a wide range of people across the organisation.

If you enjoy problem-solving, working with data, and helping others, this could be a great opportunity for you.

You'll be part of a friendly, supportive and hardworking team that takes pride in delivering excellent service. Our work is recognised through a Customer Service Excellence accreditation, and we're always looking for ways to improve what we do.

We're committed to helping our people grow, and you'll have access to development and upskilling opportunities to support your career progression.

This role offers hybrid working, typically with 2–3 days per week working remotely. We do ask for some flexibility during busier periods or when covering team leave.

Our Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and an excellent pension scheme, along with a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Generous annual leave (25 days + bank holidays + Christmas closure)
  • Access to staff discounts and benefits schemes
  • Health and wellbeing support
  • Access to University facilities, including sport and library services

You will:

  • Reconcile University income and expenditure, ensuring accurate financial records
  • Support cashiering processes, including investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Provide helpful advice and support to staff and students on financial matters
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service across a wide range of enquiries
  • Work with data from multiple systems to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Support and guide colleagues across the University on financial processes

Desirable:

  • Have worked within a customer service role dealing with customer enquiries
  • Have experience of working in a busy financial environment processing large transaction volumes
  • Have the ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Have skills in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Oracle or similar finance systems.
  • Be enthusiastic, with a high standard of customer service
  • Be thorough and precise with your approach to work
  • Be logical and good at problem solving
  • Be motivated, professional, and pro-active

We know that great candidates don't always meet every requirement, so if you're excited about this role but don't meet all of our desirable criteria, we'd still love to hear from you.

At Manchester Metropolitan University, we're proud to be a great place to work. Our people are at the heart of what we do, and supporting our staff is one of our key strategic priorities.

You'll be joining an ambitious, inclusive organisation where your contribution is valued and your development is supported.
